Jacqueline Delaunay makes this superb Muscadet from five hectares of 20-year-old Melon Blanc vines grown on stony gneiss, amphibolite and schist soils. The estate is in organic conversion, using no chemicals or herbicides whatsoever, only grass as a cover crop. Fermentation by ambient yeasts, found in the vineyards and on the cellar walls, takes place underground in special cement tanks lined with glass. The wine rests on its lees for eight-12 months, with bâtonnage two to three times over winter. This stirring of the lees gives the wine its appellation’s signature freshness, creaminess, and elegance.

50% Grüner Veltliner, 40% Müller Thurgau, 10% Welschriesling. Intensely mineral, with subtle aromatic white flowers and touches of white nectarine fruit. Christoph is a young winemaker from a winemaking family; he’s honed his chops in New Zealand, Germany and South Africa, and is now making natural wines from select parcels at his family’s estate. Vegan.

What a joy to find, once again, red Burgundies that are so light and fresh. That's what 2021 has offered. This Bourgogne is just 12.5% alcohol. Wonderful mineral-inflected flavors and the tannins are so fine that they don't intrude. This can still undergo more character development but already it's a delight!

Twenty-nineteen marked our 2nd vintage working with the La Cruz Vineyard. We are beginning to understand the nuances

of the vineyard more deeply. There is an inherent richness and depth to the fruit from this site which requires restraint to

preserve the purity and balance of the finished wine. Two selections of Syrah were harvested between September 20th and

the 28th. The Noir selection was picked first. True to name, Noir brings dark fruit and structure which act as the backbone

of the wine. The following week, the Alban selection was harvested. The Alban gives red-fruited freshness, ample acidity,

and is perfect for whole-cluster fermentation. The soaring aromatics of the Alban clone from La Cruz Vineyard always

evokes a sense memory of the wines of Allemand. Together these contrasting components blend beautifully and build a

wine of depth, purity, and freshness. Farmed using strictly organic and Biodynamic practices. 100% native fermentation,

no additions, 50% whole cluster fermented, bottled unfined and unfiltered. (13.3% alc), 9 barrels produced.
